We all know those people who say we are bad peope in RL don't really mean it. It is just an excuse for them to comfort themself because they lost some stuff to those people or ar just jealous because those "bad people" are so good at the game.
We all know it and deep down you know it too: You are just mad and you should really calm down, get a mining permit and then learn how to play this game.

Infinity Ziona wrote:Giaus Felix wrote:They're still pixels and Eve is a game where loss is meaningful; don't like it, don't play it They might be pixels but so are the pixels on a World Cup Scoreboard. Why don't you go to a world cup game maybe in Brazil, and interfere with a goal, then explain to the crowd its only pixels on that scoreboard.... Or go down the pub and mess up someones pool game and explain to them its just balls on the table and not that important. If you're still alive come back here and report what you experienced. People play games as a form of entertainment and as a form of hobbying. Many take their games and hobbies very seriously. The former suggestion above will likely get you killed, literally and the latter maybe just bashed. While in your own mind you might try to excuse your poor behaviour by dismissing the value of X because you feel X is unimportant, your perception is your own and you do not speak for the rest of humanity in regards to the value of X be it EvE, soccer, pool or otherwise. It's just that blowing up those pixels without your consent is part of the game in EVE. They are basically part of the rules of the game, therefor your analogy does not work.
You have to actually compare it with something which is against the rules, like for example if you would threaten to send your dog after people in RL. It's obvious how this is not within the rules and with that example your analogy would probably work.
Just saying.

So if I'm a bad person in RL if I play a like a bad person in EVE, does that mean those people who play EVE like idiots (not tanking their ships, expect total safety, don't manage risk) are actually idiots in RL as well? Just asking...

"Tear harvesting" is a comedic response to the wildly disproportionate reactions occasionally encountered in the course of normal play, and not an actual goal for most people. That's certainly not the case, since in most cases the harvester goes out of their way to berate the target player after the loss to get the reaction from them. Then when they fail to get that reaction they get bored. Yeah, this is a thing that predominantly occurs in your delusional little mind, and is only very rarely (as a percentage of total ganks) witnessed in game. He speaks from experience, he used to be a ganker. At least that is what he always says. It's just natural he expects others would do the same I think.

Dracvlad wrote:Seems a bit odd, but every time CODE has ganked a miner in systems I have operated in they always post something about CODE being in charge or hisec and that they need to get a permit, then drop in the KM's which is a taunt. I find it amusing...
EDIT: And the post above details it, that is a taunt. It is obviously not a taunt, but a warning to those other miners: "We actually are in control of this system and we will enforce the Code". You may have noticed that we usually pod the offender, so by the time we display the killmail in local the receiver of the gank is usually no longer in system, so how can it possibly be a taunt?

Dracvlad wrote: EDIT: Another carefully worded insult above, calling a miner a bot aspirant is meant to wind them up, me I just laugh, but for some miners who hate bots they get rather irritated. Like I said CODE have got this wind up approach down to a fine art, but its still taunting...
It is well known and documented that AG are in favour of bots. So no surprise there.

Another side note: I'm no Goon. Those black-balling (@)!)_!#s wouldn't take me.
I'd always thought that CODE. were either a) made up of Goons themselves, bored of having-it-all in null, or b) Goon-wannabes who had been scammed out of a billion or two trying to join them, so decided to form their own corp instead. Thanks for confirming the latter There are people in Goonswarm who are part of the New Order, which is a movement that transcends even coalitions. CODE. for example is also part of the New Order, but a completely different entity as are many other corps and alliances. Some of our auto-piloting Freighter inspection crew often joins up with members of Goonswarm to bring justice to smugglers of illegal equipment.
Personally I had never something to do with Goonswarm. I do however respect them as a protected minority under the Code.
Also I would like to take a moment to thank our Goonswarm overlords for making all this possible.

Playne Jayne wrote:And that's why CODE. mainly goes after noob miners in ventures who are mining a box or two of veld.... If you would actually bother to check if what you write you would have noticed that our Killboard features ~16k dead exhumers, ~31k mining barges, and only ~10k frigates, which as a class represent not only the Venture but all frigates in EVE.
Playne Jayne wrote:Thirdly, now that CCP are teetering on going into receivership, even the hardiest of HTFU devs is shitting bricks about losing their job, hence semi-F2P (about to go full F2P when the first 'model' fails, I'm guessing say March?) the ONLY consideration on CCP's minds is getting new players into the game - which means they have to not insta-quit. Their latest revenue reports show a completely different picture than what you try to draw here. They are implementing new ways to monetise EVE for a long time now. So can you please elaborate what this has to do with us and with the topic?

I think we found a common ground here. People who play "bad people" in game are "bad people" IRL, while people who play like idiots (carebears) are idiots IRL. I think we can live with that. Anyway, the take away message here is clearly that you should probably purchase a mining permit and follow the Code anyway because no amount of whining will remedy your situation.

/thread The difference being that someone being bad at the game doesn't necessarily make them bad at everything in life. I suck at playing certain games. But I'm considered to be a pretty decent engineer. Being a **** on any scale or venue makes you a ****, period. But it's good to see that on your stumbling way down in this argument you have at least acknowledged what the rest of us have known like, forever. Does a fool knows he's a fool?

I think the question is: Do anti-gankers fail IRL all the time, constantly, daily, at every single opportunity just like in-game because in-game behaviour reflects RL? I think it is important to answer this questions to get to the bottom of this.
